Mark your calendars now for the UMBC Education Department’s 12th annual arts integration conference, Innovating Integration: A Choose-Your-Day’s-Adventure Arts Integration Conference, presented in cooperation with the Arts Education in Maryland Schools Alliance (AEMS). The conference will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 9:00-3:00 on the UMBC campus.
This year’s conference will offer sessions for those new to arts integration as well as AI veterans who are looking for fresh ideas. Participants can select sessions from several strands.
Building School Capacity for Arts Integration – sessions for administrators and teacher leaders
Arts Integration 101: Building Your Arts Integration Toolbox –for arts integration “newbies”: workshops on how-to-get-started and active sessions on visual art, dance, music, theater, and media arts
Early Childhood Education – a hands-on, active approach will introduce the new ECE arts standards
New Directions and Innovations – new ideas for veteran AI teachers
Featured presenters include art teacher, Sia Kyriakakos, the 2017 Maryland Teacher of the Year and Maggie Weber, New York City’s 2017 Middle School Art Teacher of the Year. As always, breakfast refreshments and lunch are included and the day will end with fabulous door prizes.
REGISTRATION is required. Registration begins January 15. Registration fee (includes all sessions, breakfast, and lunch) is $35. Early Bird registration is discounted to $30 and will be available January 15-February 15. 20% discount to teams of three or more teachers/administrators from one school. INTERESTED IN PRESENTING AT THE 2018 CONFERENCE? There’s still time to propose a session. Innovative presentations are encouraged (but traditional ones work too).
