Details about the Conference theme: REcharge & REconnect!
For the 7th Annual MDEA Conference, the selected theme provides an opportunity to recharge & reconnect as we continue to navigate dance education during a global pandemic, systemic and societal challenges. Presenters will have the opportunity to recharge with the dance community through holistic approaches, as well as reconnect with other related fields such as social-emotional learning, arts integration, technology, and somatic practices. We look to address the whole person, including physical, mental, and emotional health, while taking social factors into consideration.
-How do dance educators reconnect with students as we continue to navigate through a pandemic?
-How do dance educators reconnect with ourselves as artists and creators?
-How can we, as artists, deepen our understanding of other art forms in order to make reconnections?
-How can we address social-emotional needs in the dance classroom?
Additionally, we will focus our sessions on the guiding initiatives that have been created by NDEO to help shape the future of dance education nationally and through the work of the state affiliates. The initiatives/priorities are:
-
Connect the Field
-
Build Knowledge
-
Cultivate Leadership
-
Promote Inclusiveness
