For the 6th Annual MDEA Conference, the selected theme provides an opportunity to reconnect through dance after over a year of a global pandemic. Presenters will have the opportunity to reconnect our community through holistic approaches in Dance education and other related fields such as social-emotional learning, arts integration, technology and dance, somatic practices, etc. In a medical setting, holistic refers to addressing the whole person, including their physical, mental, and emotional health, while taking social factors into consideration.

  • How do dance educators reconnect with students as we begin to come out of a virtual connection? 

  • How can we, as artists, deepen our understanding of other art forms in order to make reconnections?  

  • How does the teacher-student relationship benefit from a holistic approach to dance education?  

  • How can we address social-emotional needs in the dance classroom?      


Additionally, we will focus our sessions on the guiding initiatives that have been created by NDEO to help shape the future of dance education nationally and through the work of the state affiliates.  The initiatives/priorities are:

  • Connect the Field

  • Build Knowledge

  • Cultivate Leadership

  • Promote Inclusiveness


Two ways to attend and participate in the MOVE AGAIN! conference:

  • In-Person at the CCBC Essex Campus.  For in-person attendees, masks will be required at all times while indoors.  Participants must follow all COVID protocols that are put in place including but not limited to wearing a face mask that covers the nose and mouth at all times while indoors at the conference. No neck gaiter/handkerchief/or masks with valves.


  • Virtually at your own location.  For virtual attendees, you can join one of the two conference live streams to participate in the sessions being offered. Sessions will be live-streamed and not hybrid.  The presenter will not be teaching concurrently to both in-person and virtual attendees.  The presenter will use a microphone and have a projection screen showing virtual attendees during the session; however, the presenter will direct the presentation to those attending in person.  There will be a tech monitor to assist those attending virtually with questions as possible.

In addition, ALL conference participants will have access to Asynchronous sessions!  Sessions will be available starting on 10/15/2021 and will be accessible for 60 days following the conference.  


NOTE: MDEA reserves the right to switch to an all-virtual conference if necessary due to current COVID conditions.

Conference fees include:

  • Admission to the MDEA Awards Social Event on Thursday October 14, 2021

  • Attendance to the MDEA Conference sessions either in person or virtually on Friday October 15, 2021

  • Access to the asynchronous sessions and the live session recording for 60 days following the conference. 

At the time of registration participants will need to select to either attend the conference in person or virtually.  All in person sessions will be livestreamed for those choosing to attend virtually.
