MDEA CONFERENCE 2020
Friday, March 13, 2020 POSTPONED
Department of Dance
Beginning Wednesday, March 11, Towson University is cancelling all university classes for the remainder of the week on all campuses. This decision was made to help prevent and reduce the spread and transmission of COVID-19.
To that end, we are cancelling the MDEA Conference for Friday March 13th. All registration fees will be refunded in full. Please allow up to 2 weeks for refunds to be processed.
Once we are able to resume planning, MDEA will explore the possibility of a re-scheduled date for the 2020 MDEA Conference.
The health concern continues to be a fluid and rapidly evolving situation. We hope you understand that this decision was made with the safety of our dance community in mind and in collaboration with our valued Towson University partners in the Dance Department/College of Fine Arts and Communications.
Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Theme: "Taking Dance Beyond the Steps:
Making Holistic Connections"
Click HERE for session descriptions and presenter
For the 4th Annual MDEA Conference,
the selected theme provides an opportunity
to speak to the connections between dance
education and other related fields such as
social-emotional learning, arts integration, somatic practices, etc. In a medical setting, holistic refers to addressing the whole person, including their physical, mental, and emotional health, while taking social factors into consideration.
How do dance educators make holistic connections?
How can we, as artists, deepen our understanding of other art forms in order to make connections?
How does the teacher-student relationship benefit from a holistic approach to dance education?
How can we address social-emotional needs in the dance classroom?
